Kalamos is an exclusive starting point for many important destinations of the Greek mainland

Archeologically sites like the Acropolis (in the centre of Athens) and many other attractions of the Greek Clasical Era as the cape of Sounio and Delfi.
Through the high way leading to the port of Piraeus at a distance of 55 km the Greek Islands can also be easily in reach.

Besides the exceptional natural beauties combining the sea and the mountains on the crystal-clear shores of the Gulf of Evia, the visitors of Kalamos and the village of Aghii Apostoli can find many restaurants and taverns offering Mediteranean dishes with fresh fish and other local specialties.

Clubs and bars in the summer months add to the attractions some cosmopolitan colours. Across the village shore you can find the island of Evia. Daily trips to Evia (30 minutes by ferry boat) are possible from the port of Oropos (10 km distance).
In Oropos you can also find the "The Amphiarion", the largest sanctuary in Ancient Greece of the chthonic god and hero Amphiarios. The structure is dated from the 4th century B.C. and was excavated by Vasileios Leonardos from 1884 to 1929.
