Athens >> We travel your dreams
Windmills Travel & Tourism is a full service Inbound Tour Operator established in 1979 on the Cycladic island of Tinos. Based on our steady growth, we branched out to the island of Mykonos, which became the base of our operations in 1991; and have over the years pioneered ourselves as one of the leaders in the Cycladic market. Three years ago, we opened our Athens Office, so that we could offer full service to Tour Operators for land arrangements and also mainland service to our incoming and outgoing individual clientele.

We are accredited by the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO- License Nr 0206 E 6100 00198 Y1) and a member of the Hellenic Association of Travel Agents (HATA) and of the American Association of Travel Agents (ASTA).

Athens >> Instanbul Excursion
Athens >> Instanbul ExcursionIstanbul! The medieval Constantinople! Condensed magic woven by legends, history, triumphs, laments and poetry in one word! Bridge city between continents and a melting-pot for civilizations, peoples, languages and religions. Cosmopolitan “by birth”, shining and gold clad already at the time when the rest of the western cities were only muddy rookeries, “Regina of the Cities” then, “Queen of the World” today, Istanbul calls us to listen to its pulsing heart…

Day 1: After breakfast, meet our representative and get transferred to Athens airport for your departure to Istanbul. As our plane is about to land, we see the city embracing the Bosporus banks and bridging Europe with Asia, we are thrilled in a way no other city in the world makes us feel. After landing we are transferred to our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2: Day at leisure. Our hotel is centrally located, so that everybody can make the acquaintance of all important sights and market places on foot. If you are a first-timer, try and keep close to the hotel.

Day 3: After we have had our breakfast we start our guided exploration of Istanbul. Our first visit is to the Hippodrome with its 3 superb obelisks, where you think you can still hear the shouting by the Green and the Blue Factions during the Nika Revolt in 532. The Blue Mosque follows and, of course, the unique and fabulous Aghia Sophia, turned into a museum today, a church that was a witness of all historical stations of Constantinople and, later, Istanbul. We shall then visit the Top-Kapi Palace-museum (where the film with the same name by Jules Dassin and with Melina Merkouri was filmed), with impressive collections of precious stones and the Sultan’s harem compartments. Within the Palace Walls we will see the Greek-Orthodox church of Aghia Eirini (Santa Irene) but we will not be able to see its interior because it is closed to the public. Then we’ll visit the Basilica Cistern, built by Byzantine Emperor Justinianus in the 6th century, a most impressive masterpiece of Architecture; today it is offered for uses altogether foreign to the purpose it was initially built, i.e. Video-Art performances during the Istanbul Biennale.

There will follow a short break for an optional lunch (not included) before we visit the Grand Bazaar (Kaparli Carsi); here there are 4000 shops selling leatherwear, alabaster, souvenirs, gold and silver jewelry, wood-carven items, clothing, glassware, decorative items, musical instruments and nargilehs, antiques, hand-woven carpets and fabrics, anything one could (or could not) imagine. Here, a prerequisite to shopping is hard … bargaining!

Time has struck 6 pm, but in case you think it is time to let you have some rest, you are very wrong! You see, we are in Istanbul! So, we propose you have a big time at a feast where local dances and songs are performed; there’s no better place to enjoy eastern songs and dances than the City where the heart of the East is pulsing.

Day 4: Day at leisure.Transfer to the airport for our flight back to Athens, El Venizelos Airport.

Athens >> Combi Excursion Athens - Istanbul
A thrilling combination of Athena Package extended to also include Istanbul! Istanbul...the medieval Constantinople. One of the oldest cities in the world, "the city on seven hills", the city bridging two continents and three civilizations, the city chosen as the "Cultural Capital of Europe 2010".
