Situated 35 kilometers far from Kastelli and 76 kilometers far from Chania at the Western coast of Crete Afratolakkoi is a pebbly beach (big pebbles) within a bay, which is affected only by the western winds.
Not much organised it offers some accommodation facilities, food and drink and no facilities for swimming and sunbathing.
May be Afratolakkoi is not the ideal beach for swimming, especially compared to the extended sandy beaches of the North or the South; however, if you like pebbly beaches and prefer the remote and quiet peaceful places, you will certainly enjoy it.
Access is possible by taxi from Kastelli and by private and rented car and motorbikes (35 kilometers of secondary road and approximately 4,5 kilometres of unasphalted secondary road in bad condition). |
