| Excursions pick up from Arkadi Hotel Samaria Gorge: is one of the National Parks of Greece and the only one in Crete. It starts at an altitude of 1227 m. at Xyloskalo near the village of Omalos(70 Km. from Hania) and ends after an 18 km walk to the beach at the village of Agia Roumeli on the south coast of Crete. The gorge of Samaria is the most popular tourist attraction in Crete. A lot of people walk through the gorge every year from the beginning of May to the end of October. In the winter the gorge (located in the National Park of Samaria) is closed to visitors because of the danger posed by water and falling stones. |
