Lefka Ori (“White Mountains”) is a mountain chain not very extended as other ones in Greece, but it is very high; its highest top reaches the 2453 meters (2- 3 meters lower than Idi or Psiloritis), whereas several other tops are more than 2000 meters high. It is a quite difficult mountain to climb; only expert climbers can climb in winter when there is fog and snow; things are not better in summer when the high temperature makes the venture much more difficult. Many climbing paths starting from various directions, as from the Omalos plateau or from the Askyfou plateau etc., lead to various peaks of the mountain chain.
