It is worth visiting the area of Vrysses; around it you will find several traditional villages as Fre, Vafe, Emprosnero, Alicambos and Maza, which along with the traditional architecture have also maintained the Cretan way of life of the past. The area is well known for the milk products (especially yoghurt) and the delicious meat, goat or lamb.

All these villages are off the main destinations of tourists and thus, the visitor can find a more authentic image of the Cretan village and its people.
