Chrissoskalitissa, Chania Crete |
Situated 76 kilometers far from Chania, at the Southwest, at the Western coast of Crete, Chrysoskalitissa is a small village with few permanent residents, a resort for locals and few tourists. The most important sightseeing is the Monastery of Panaghia Chrysoskalitissa (meaning “with golden steps”); it is uncertain when it has been built. The old tradition of the Monastery pretends that one out of the 90 steps dug in the rock and leading to the top is made of gold; however, only the sinless are able to distinguish it. |
