Approximately 11 kilometers far from Chania at the Northeast, at the western coast of the Akrotiri peninsula, it is found the beach of Kalathas. It is a long sandy beach, very beautiful, but due to its location it is affected by the “meltemia” (northern summer winds).

Accommodation facilities are available, in hotels and rooms to let; some restaurants, taverns and cafes offer food and drink.

Kalathas is an organised beach; you can rent sun beds and there are sea sport facilities.
