Situated 67 kilometers far from Chania at the South, Sougia is a nice long pebbly beach with rich shade from tamarisk trees, open to the southern winds.

Less organised, it offers some accommodation facilities, food and drink and facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas). The beach is popular for camping because of the shade of the trees around. The eastern side is kept for nudists. The beach is popular for snorkelling, too.

Access from Chania is possible by rented or private car and motorbike.
