It is also worth visiting the small villages of
Ano Kalessia, within an area full of vineyards, and Kato Kalessia, with
the church of Panaghia going back to the 14th century. Both are found
at a distance of 8-9 kilometres far from Amoudara at the South. It is
in these villages that takes place the feast of the sultana raisin, organised
every year by the Cultural Centre of the villages, in early August.
The visitor will find a wide range of lodging in Amoudara; several hotels
of all categories, studios and rooms to let are available.
Swimming and sea sport facilities are offered at the beaches of Amoudara,
Linoperamata and the nearby Palaeokastro.
There are also many taverns restaurants and cafes for food and drink.
Access from Herkleio is very easy by public buses with frequent service
and taxi, as well as by private or rented car and motorbikes. |
