Keratokambos beach, Heraklion Crete |
Situated at a distance of some 71 kilometres far from Heraklion at the Southeast, Keratokambos is a long beach, pebbly in its major part, with intervals of sandy areas. The beach is affected by the winds. |

At the eastern end of the beach, successive to it and separated by a series of dunes, there is a small part of the beach almost totally isolated, ideal for the lovers of calmness; the seabed is rocky, so the fans of snorkelling will find here their paradise! Not much organised, the beach does not offer swimming and sunbathing facilities (sunbeds, ubrellas) nor sea sport facilities; but the sea is crystal clear and the beach quiet enough without big crowds of visitors. |

A few rooms to let are available for accommodation in the small settlement at the beach; in the few taverns of the settlement the visitor may enjoy fresh fish, gorgeous local dishes and, of course abundant Cretan wine and "tsikoudia". Access from Heraklion is possible only by rented or private cars and motorbikes. You will take the National Road leading to Viannos and turn right some 5 kilometres before arriving to the village. |
