Situated some 85 kilometres far from Heraklion at the South - Southeast and 3-4 kilometres southern to the beach of Tsoutsouros, Maridaki is a pebbly beach affected by the winds; recently it has been popular enough to the locals.

Not much organised, it does not offer any accommodation facilities; only some food and drink, mainly refreshments,  is available on the beach.

Access from Heraklion is possible only by rented or private cars and motorbikes.
The road is difficult after you pass the village of Achentrias; you have to drive for 15 some kilometres on a bad dirt track, a rather adventurous drive!
