Dreros beach, Lassithi Crete |
The beach of Dreros is found at a distance of 13 kilometers far from Aghios Nicolaos at the North and 2-3 kilometers northern to the famous tourist resort of Elounda. The beach is sandy, with pebbles in some parts, it is not affected by the winds and the tamarisk trees on the beach offer a good shade. It owes its name to the ancient city of Dreros, situated in the inland, at a distance of 3 kilometers far from Neapolis. The most important find from the ancient city is the stone inscription where it is cited the oath of 180 adolescents of the city; the piece is actually found at Istanbul. |
