The beach is not organised at all; no facilities are offered to the swimmer, apart from the crystal clear sea, the bright sun and the blue sky. It is only for this that you will choose the beach, after having found a lodging at Sitia or Palaekastro. This is the best of the three beaches found at the area around Ancient Itanos. Access to the beach from Aghios Nicolaos, Sitia or Palaekastro is possible by rented or private car and motorbikes. You will leave your car at the end of the road, in front of Ancient Itanos and walk for 5 minutes to reach the beach. Erimoupolis, southern beach |

Certainly it is not better than the other two beaches of Erimoupolis, but the palm trees give to it a somehow exotic style and offer their shade to the swimmers, so desirable in the hot days of summer. The seabed is in fact a sunken ancient city, once prosperous, but now inhabited only by thousands of small and bigger fish. Those liking diving and snorkeling will certainly adore it. Access to the beach from Aghios Nicolaos, Sitia or Palaekastro is possible by rented or private car and motorbikes. |
