The 200- meters long beach of Maridati , partly sandy and partly pebbly is situated at a distance of 93 kilometers eastern to Aghios Nicolaos , 23 kilometers far from Sitia at the East and 4 kilometers northeastern to Palaekastro, within a small cove. The beach, not very known, is affected by the winds blowing in the area.

No facilities are available at the beach itself, but the area from Palaekastro to the beach is full of hotels and rooms to let and it is a good idea to choose it for staying. For food and drink there are several fish taverns with good food; a small one is found on the dirt track leading to the beach, some 600-700 before arriving there. The sea is marvelous and if you like natural beaches without umbrellas and crowds, this is your beach. You will share it with only a few people, with whom you will also share the tamarisk trees offering their precious shade in the hot summer days.
