Not organised at all and isolated, the beach doesn’t offer any kind of facilities to the swimmers, apart from the crystal clear blue sea and the golden fine sand, after which it has been named (“psili ammos” means “fine sand” in Greek). It is only for this that you will choose the beach, after having found a lodging at Sitia or Palaekastro. The beach is one of the best in the area and calm enough, as the low hills keep it hidden and isolated, an almost “private” beach. And if you feel like climbing the hills, you will find some smaller beaches, with even less people, but with the same fine golden sand.
Access from Aghios Nicolaos or Sitia is possible by rented or private car and motorbikes up to Vai (where you may also arrive by public bus from Sitia). From Vai you have to follow the path (easy to find) and after 10 minutes walk you will reach the beach. |
