Situated at a distance of 26 kilometers far from Aghios Nicolaos at the Northwest and 41 kilometers eastern to Heraklion, the small beach of Sissi is a sandy beach affected by the winds. If you choose this place for swimming, you have also the chance of sightseeing; you may drive to the scenic traditional village of Epano Sissi, 1,5 kilometer far from the beach at the East, the Monastery of Aghios Georghios of Selinari (5 kilometers southern to Sissi), as well as the mountainous small village of Vrachassi, at a distance of 7 kilometers far from Sissi at the South. |

For those wishing to make their holidays richer in knowledge and education, the archaeological site of Malia is very close (some 5 kilometers at the West); and, if you like caves, don’t miss to visit the cave of Milatos, also an archaeological site, at a distance of some 5 kilometers eastern to the beach. Very well organised, the beach offers very good accommodation facilities in hotels of all categories, rooms to let and camping. You have various alternatives for food and drink in the taverns, restaurants and cafes of the area. Access from Aghios Nicolaos and from Heraklion is possible by public bus, running regularly, as well as with rented or private cars and motorbikes. From Aghios Nicolaos, you can also use a taxi. |
