Sissi, Lassithi Crete |
Sissi is a tourist resort with a small scenic port and sandy beach. It is situated at a distance of 26 kilometers northwestern to Aghios Nicolaos and 41 kilometers eastern to Heraklion. The village counts some 700 permanent residents. If you choose Sissi for staying, you have several alternatives of sightseeing in the area. One of them is a visit to the scenic traditional village of Epano Sissi (meaning “upper Sissi”), some 1,5 kilometers at the East; here the visitor has the chance to see how dramatically different is a contemporary noisy tourist resort from a traditional village. |

In case of health problems, there is a Medical Center at Vrahassi . If you are in the area during the period of Easter, you may attend the local feast (“panighyri”) at the Monastery of Aghios Georgios (St. George) of Selinari, on the 23 rd of April, or on Monday after Easter. Access from Aghios Nicolaos or from Heraklion is possible by public bus, running frequently, as well as by rented and private car and motorbikes.
