The beach of Akoumia is found 51 kilometers far from Rethymnon and some 12 kilometers from the homonymous village at the South; it is a long beach with fine pebbles, affected by the southern winds, good for snorkeling. It is popular to the locals and to the tourists looking for a more natural environment.

It is not very organised; no accommodation facilities, nor facilities for swimming, sunbathing and sea sports are available, but you will find good food, fresh fish and cold drinks.
