If you are an enthusiast of natural beauty, don't miss to visit the mouth of the river Geropotamos and the scenic beach, just on the junction with the National Road.
You may also visit the cape Chondrocavos at the Northeast of the village; you will see the lighthouse and enjoy an excellent view of the area.
Once at Panormos, it is worth visiting the picturesque villages of Skepasti, some 5 kilometers and Exantis some 11 kilometers far from Panormos at the East.
Some events and happenings take place during the Carnival in February and March.
A series of cultural activities take place in summer.
Three local feasts ("panighyri") take place in the village: on the Ascension Day, on the 24 th of August, in honor of St. John, and on the 6 th of December in honor of Aghios Nicolaos.
Accommodation of any kind and for all budgets is plenty; you will find hotels, studios and rooms to let. Food and drink is available in the restaurants and taverns of the village and the broader area. Swimming and sea sport activities are possible at the beaches of the village.
Access from Rethymnon is possible by public bus, with regular service, taxi and rented or private car and motorbike. |
