Monastery of Agia Irini |
The Monastery of Agia Irini is situated 5 kilometers far from Rethymnon at the South, at a small distance before arriving to the village of Roussospiti. It is one of the older monasteries on the island, as it has been established in the 10 th century. As occurs with most of the monasteries in Crete, it has been destroyed several times during the various revolutions and revolts against the Ottoman domination. |
