Monastery of Panagia Halevi |
|
The Monastery of Panagia Halevi is situated on the way to the village Chromonastiri, some 12 kilometers far from Rethymnon at the South. The main church is dedicated to Virgin Mary and according to the inscription it seems to go back to 1864. The Monastery is much older, dating back to the 16 th or 17 th century; it was active up to 1900. Today the Monastery is in ruins. It has been attached to the Monastery of Aghia Irini, since 1990. |
