Cave of Sfendoni |
The cave of Sfendoni (the locals call it "Sfendoni Trypa", i.e. "the hole of Sfendoni") near Zoniana is located at a distance of 47 kilometers far from Rethymnon at the Southeast, on the road to Axos and Anoghia. The cave is open to visitors. |

It is very impressive and big, as it has 14 halls with a rich stalactite and stalagmite decoration. Its total length is more than 500 meters and it covers a space of more than 3000 square meters. Here too, there is evidence of human use of the cave from the Neolithic period up to the Minoan times . |
