The Cove of Agios Nikolaos, Folegandros Island |
The rocky coast of Aghios Nicolaos is situated at the eastern coast of the island, within a small cove, between Plaka and Vorina. The place is affected only by the eastern winds. There are no trees for shade, or even beach; after swimming you may sit only on the rocks. Once here, you may see high on the vertical rock a construction looking like a dry stone wall. It is the ruins of an old tiny church that somebody had offered to Aghios Nicolaos, after he was saved during a storm. |

Swimming here in the deep transparent calm sea with the rocky seabed is a fascinating and relaxing experience which you will remember long after you have returned back home. In case of any problem you have to go back to Chora. Access is possible only by rented or private boat or yacht. The excursion boats making the tour of the island usually stop here for a while so that the passengers enjoy swimming in this exceptional environment. |
