Agios Nikolaos beach, Agali, Folegandros Island |
The beach of Aghios Nicolaos is situated at a distance of 20 minutes walking from Angali, at the western part of the bay of Vathy (or Angali Bay), an area with no permanent residents, but very beautiful. The beach has been named after the homonymous small church, found on the hillock, on the way to the tavern. |

The beach is sandy with small pebbles and when there is no wind from the South, the sea is crystal clear. At a distance of some 100 meters, on the hillock, there is a tavern where you can buy water and a snack, or you may enjoy refreshments and meal, mainly fresh fish and grilled meats. At the beach you will find several tamarisk trees for shade. The beach is secluded enough and nudism tolerant, but camping is not allowed. However, you may find a few people staying overnight at the beach without any problem. If you decide to share this experience, you will enjoy a very nice atmosphere made up by the fires that the campers lit on the beach and you will join the rest of the people for drinking, singing and chatting in the moonlight. In case of emergence you have to return to Chora. |

Access to the beach is possible by the excursion boats departing from Karavostassi(s) or from Angali. Also, the beach is one of the stops of the excursion boat during the tour of the island. There is also access on foot, from Angali (some 20 minutes of walking) or from Ano Meria (it will take some 50 minutes to one hour). If you have to return to Ano Meria, you should bear in mind that the way is pretty tiring, as the path is uphill. No access by car or scooter is possible. |
