Aliki, Paros Island |
The beautiful coastal settlement of Alyki is situated at a distance of some 13 kilometers southern to the town of Paros (Paroikia). The village is found at an area with many nice beaches around, which resulted in the tourist development of it. The settlement counts some 500 permanent residents. Situated within a small cove, the village and the beach are well protected from the northern winds and the small port is suitable for mooring of small fishing boats and yachts. The settlement owes its names to the salt pans that existed in the area in past times. Close to the village it has also been established the airport of Paros. |

Several alternatives for accommodation are available in the settlement and in the area around. Food is good in the taverns and restaurants of the village, where you may also taste some dishes of the local kitchen. On the way to the airport you will come across an original and somehow peculiar Folk Museum of Scorpios. His owner, Benetos Skiadas, is a folk artisan, who has made numerous models of boats and ships of the past. Apart from the models of the ships displayed inside, you may also see several other constructions, exhibited in the garden of the Museum; the most important and interesting of these constructions is the model of the famous Monastery of Panaghia Hozoviotissa of Amorgos. |

Apart of the museum what is worth visiting in the area are the wonderful indented coastline with the sandy beaches and the crystal clear sea. Thus, you have several beaches to choose for swimming. You may stay at the beach in front of the settlement or go to the near by beaches of Aghios Nicolaos, Platia Ammos (“wide sand”), Makrya Myti (“long nose”!), Kladia, Voutakos, Farangas and to several others that you will find in the area. Nature has been very generous in this area! At some of these beaches you will find beach bars on the sand, a feature that attracts many people, especially young boys and girls who come here to have a wild time by the sea. In any case of emergence, the corresponding services of the town of Paros (Paroikia) (some 13 kilometers far from Alyki to the North) are available for you. Access to the village is easy by rented or private car and motorbikes. If you have a boat or small yacht, the small port of the settlement is convenient for mooring. |
