The beach of Souvlia is situated at a distance of some 3 kilometers northern to the town of Paros (Paroikia) and it is successive to the beaches of Marcello and Krios. Situated within the Bay of Paros, close to the cape of Aghios Fokas, the beach is well protected from the northern winds. Souvlia is a long sandy beach with nice white sand and crystal clear blue sea.
The place is very popular, both for its beauty and for the vicinity to the town. Very close to the beach you may see the cave of Archilochos, the famous lyric poet of the Archaic period. It is within the broad hole of the almost vertical rock of the coast that the poet was isolated to seek inspiration for his poems.
As the beach is very close to Paroikia, you have a wide range of alternatives for accommodation, both in the town and in the area around.
In case of any problem you should address to the services of Paroikia, 3 kilometers far away, at the South.
Access to the beach is very easy by taxi and by rented or private car and motorbikes. You will park your vehicle close to the beach and you will walk for a few meters. You may also access the beach by one of the excursion boats, departing every day from the capital Paroikia. |
