Grandma Smaro's house is found in Firostefani.
She saw it as a bride, heard the first cries of her children there, a companion in her life until 1956, unable to survive the earthquake.
The house collapsed, and Smaro took the remains of her dowery, some black and white photographs, and left with her husband and her children...

The childrens' memories, and tales that passed on to the grandchildren rekindled life once more, and one by one the stones were replaced.
Six traditional apartments, one for each of her family, have been restored, each decorated in the style of Smaro's time, a relation of hers, Master Lefteris of Krikela made the furniture.
The courtyard and balconies have been covered in stone - just as it used to be. |
