Platis Gialos beach, Sifnos Island |
The long sandy beach of Platys Gialos (“the large beach” in Greek) is situated in front of the homonymous cove of the southeastern coast of the island. It is the biggest beach of the island and one of the bigger of Cyclades. It is situated at a distance of some 9 kilometers southern to Apollonia and it is very popular; as a result in summer it is usually crowded and noisy. |

The beach offers many alternatives for accommodation and there are a lot of restaurants, taverns at the sea front, cafés and bars and other facilities for tourists. It is a well organized beach with facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas). For any problem, the corresponding services of Apollonia (9 kilometers northern to Platys Gialos) are available for you. Access from Kamares and from Apollonia is possible by public buses, running regularly, by taxi and by private means (car and motorbikes). |
