The visitor will enjoy very much the impressive view of Platis Gialos from the top of the hill where it is situated the Holy Monastery of Panagia tou Vounou (Virgin Mary of the Mountain), built in early 19th century. The church has a famous historic icon, the icon of Panagia Mahairoussa.
