The beach of Megas Gialos (“the large beach” in Greek) is extended along the homonymous very popular tourist resort, situated at a distance of some 12 kilometers southwestern to Hermoupolis. This nice sandy beach, possibly the largest beach of the island, is well protected from the “meltemia” (the northern summer winds) and offers to the swimmers a crystal clear very clean sea and the rich shade of tamarisk trees on the beach.
