Kamari beach, Kos Island |
The beach of Kamari, which serves as the port of the inland village of Kefalos, is situated 1-2 kilometers eastern to the village and some 38 kilometers far from the town of Kos at the Southwest. The locals also call it «Kefalos beach», after the name of the village. It is the most famous beach of Kos and one of the best. It is a nice sandy beach, some 5 kilometers long, well organized and very popular; it is the most crowded of the beaches in the area. The sea is crystal-clear and very clean, with cool water, the coolest all over the island. There is a small port for small fishing and excursion boats. Health services are available at the nearby village of Kefalos (1-2 kilometers western to the beach). Access from the town of Kos is easy by public buses, running regularly, or by rented and private car or motorbikes. If you have a yacht, you may reach the beach by sea and moor at the small port. |
