The beautiful sandy beach of Mastihari is situated some 22 kilometers western to the town of Kos. The settlement serves as the port of the inland traditional village of Antimahia, which is found some 3-4 kilometers far away to the North. The last few years the beach is being developing rapidly and it is a very popular destination for tourists. When at Mastihari it is worth seeing the ruins of the old, Early Christian Basilica, in short distance from the sea, with a nice mosaic floor. |

Several alternatives for accommodation are available in the settlement and in the area around. It is worth spending a few days in Mastichari. Apart from the nice environment, you will really relax and enjoy calmness and beauty. The fish taverns at Mastihari are very popular not only for the fresh fish and sea food, but also for the delicious local dishes. Most of them are found at the sea front. As fishing is one of the occupations of the residents, you may be sure that the fish that they will arrive at your table is really fresh; most of the times it has been caught the same morning. The visitor will enjoy swimming, sunbathing and sea sports at the well organized beach of the small settlement. The beach has characteristic white, sparkling sand and the light blue sea is crystal clear; the whole environment gives an exotic impression. Many people pretend that Mastihari has the best beach and sea all over the island. Although this might sound as an exaggeration, the sea is really nice. And, apart from the beach, you may enjoy the huge Watermark available here, one of the bigger in Greece. In case you prefer a more natural environment without umbrellas and sun beds, just walk along the beach and find your place a few meters far away; you will enjoy the sea without noise and crowds of people. According to the fans of windsurfing, the place is ideal for the sport, thus, you will see many windsurfers around and, if you like it, you may also try. |

In the afternoon, when the umbrellas close, don’t miss to come to the beach to watch and take photos of the excellent sunset, one of the best you can see in Kos. It will really be an unforgettable memory when you return back home. A local feast («panighyri») takes place at the settlement on the 29th of August in honor of Aghios Ioannis (St. John); many people, both locals and tourists take part to it. In case of health problems, you should visit the local Medical Center of Antimahia, some 3-4 kilometers far away at the South. At Antimahia you will also find a Police Station. Access from the town of Kos is easy by public buses, running frequently (Kos- Antimahia-Mastihari and back to Kos), by taxi and by rented or private car and motorbikes. From Mastihari you may catch the boat to Kalymnos; the boats depart regularly every day. If you have a yacht, the small port is available for mooring. |
