Platani, Kos Island |
The small village of Platani is located very close to the town of Kos, only some 3 kilometers far away at the West. It is a very scenic, «old-fashioned» village with a few hundreds of residents, all of them of Turkish origin, to which the village owes the name «Kermentes». Very close to the village, you may visit the Jewish cemetery in a nice environment full of pine trees. |

But, the main reason to visit the village is its traditional taverns with the gorgeous delicacies they offer. All of them are based on recipes coming from Asia Minor, and, according to the locals, they are the best all over the island. Health services are available at the nearby town of Kos (3 kilometers eastern to the village). Access to the village is very easy: the public buses run very frequently and you may also take a taxi, or reach the village by rented or private car and motorbikes. |
