| Patmos, part of the Dodecannese complex southern to Ikaria, is the island of St. John the Theologian and of the Revelation. The combination of the old white washed mansions with the impressive grey bulk of the castle – like monastery of St. John high on the hill, is characteristic and well known worldwide.
