Hotels, studios and rooms to let are available for accommodation in the village and in the area around. Swimming is possible at the sandy beach in front of the village and at the nearby beach of Issos, at a distance of 4 kilometers far from Agios Georgios; it is a nice sandy beach within a scenic environment with dunes and a cedar wood.
A few kilometers northern to the village there is the Korrision Lake, a famous biotope, with a very important fauna and flora, protected by the Greek State; the lake is linked with the sea via a narrow and shallow strip of water. It is also worth seeing the small islets of Lagoudia, opposite to Agios Georgios, close to the Cape Consta.
A local feast (“panighyri”) takes place on the name day of Agios Georgios, celebrated on the 23rd of April (or on Monday following the Easter).
For health problems and cases of emergency, local Medical Center is available at Argirades. Access from the capital (Corfu, 32 kilometers) is possible by rented or private cars and motorbikes. |
