Accommodation is available in the village and in the area around. For swimming you may go to the sandy beach of the settlement (the beach has been awarded a blue flag. Apart from swimming, the beach offer food and drink at the fish taverns, where you may enjoy tasty fresh fish and seafood.
Apart from the sea, it is worth visiting the area around, as the natural environment and the villages are fascinating. You may drive to the village of Afionas, 3 kilometers far from Aghios Georgios at the West, to enjoy the marvelous view, both of the inland and of the sea. Once there, don’t miss to visit the small cove of Timoni, closed and well protected, a natural port for small boats when there is rough sea.
You may also visit the small village of Prinylas, at a distance of 5 kilometers southwards, also with a marvelous view of the Ionian Sea. Further away, at a distance of 10 kilometers eastern to Aghios Georgios, you will find the scenic villages of Agros and Kastellani, with the characteristic traditional houses, very interesting and representative of the beauty of Corfu.
If you like Monasteries, don’t miss to visit the Holy Monastery of Pantocrator, a women’s monastery with more than 20 nuns, built in 1835. The Monastery is situated very close to the village of Aghios Euthanasia’s, some more 12 kilometers at the East. A local feast (“panighyri”) takes place on the 29th of June in honor of St.John at the village Afionas.
For health problems and cases of emergency, local Medical Center is available at Magoulades (8 kilometers at North).
Access from the nearby capital (Corfu, 32,5 kilometers) is possible by rented or private cars and motorbikes. If you have a yacht, the small port of the village offers facilities for mooring. |
