Benitses, Corfu Island |
| Benitses is a modern, quite big and popular tourist resort in front of a nice beach, at a distance of 12 kilometers Southern to the town of Corfu. The settlement counts some 800 permanent residents. |

| Close to Benitses, within a private field there have been brought to light the ruins of a villa of the Roman period, with nice baths, well preserved. Visitors are welcome. On the hill above the settlement you will find the springs that the Venetian used for water supply of Corfu. In the same area there is the small church of Aghia Paraskevi with an excellent view of the sea. At a distance of 2 kilometers northern to Benitses, it is found the old bridge constructed by the German emperor, who used it to go to the beach when he stayed in Achilleion. One of the most worth seeing places in Benitses is the Museum of Sea. The Museum was established in 1989 and it contains exhibits from the exotic seas of Indian and Pacific oceans, but also from the Mediterranean Sea. |

| Accommodation is available within the settlement and in the broader area.
Food is abundant and good in the taverns of the area, where you may taste the local dishes, fresh fish and sea food typical dishes of Greek and international cooking.
You will enjoy swimming at the beaches in front and near the village, or you may pop to the nearby resort of Tsaki or to Aghios Ioannis of Peristeres, as well as to the other beaches of the area. In case of health problems, you should address to the Health services and amenities of the nearby capital Corfu. Access to the village from the capital (Corfu 12 kilometers far away) is easy by public buses (the blue ones), by taxi and by rented or private car and motorbikes. In addition to the taxis from the town of Corfu, local taxis are available. The small safe port of the settlement offers facilities for mooring to small yachts and boats. |
