It is worth seeing the traditional settlement of Danilia, one kilometer eastern to the village. The settlement is not an original one; in fact, it is a settlement –museum, purposely constructed in order to represent a typical traditional village of the past.
The representation is quite successful, with all traditional spaces and activities present. Some shops with souvenirs from the island and handicrafts are available at the place.
Hotels and rooms to let, both within the resort and in the area around are available for accommodation. Food is plenty and tasty in the taverns and restaurants of the area.
You will enjoy swimming at the beaches of the area. At the beach of Gouvia you will see the dockyards of the Venetian naval port.
Don’t miss to take part to the local feast (“panighyri”) in honor of Aghioi Pantes (“All Saints”) taking place in June.
Access from the capital (Corfu, 9 kilometers far away) is possible by public buses (the blue ones) with regular service, by taxi and by rented or private cars and motorbikes. Facilities for mooring and supply for yachts are available in the small port in front of the village. |
