Kontokali beach, awarded a blue flag, is overgrown, with a lot of pine trees; it is kept very clean by the shopkeepers of the area, who also try to develop it. In fact, the beach is consisted of two smaller, successive beaches separated from one another by a small hedge.
Kontokali beach is very well organized, with swimming and sunbathing facilities (sun beds, umbrellas, toilets and showers). In its major part there are not facilities for sea sports, which makes it more peaceful and safer. The sea is shallow and safe, which makes it popular to families with small children. You may enjoy a drink or have a light meal at the cafe of the beach. You will also meet peddlers selling cheese-pies, sandwiches and refreshments at the beach.
Access from the town of Corfu is very easy by public buses (the blue ones) running frequently, by taxi or by rented and private car and motorbikes. The bus stops a few hundred meters far from the beach, so you have to walk a bit to reach the sea. |
