Food is good in the taverns and restaurants of the settlement. You will enjoy fresh fish, but you may also taste a wide range of local dishes and Greek and International cooking. Even the fast foods of the village offer good and healthy food. You will also find many bars, cafes pubs with hot music, usually full of tourists. And, of course you will find many stores and gift shops to buy your souvenirs.
The beach is narrow but long enough (some 1 kilometer), very well organised and offers full facilities for any taste and mood. If you feel like wishing a more solitary and quiet place, some of the small coves of the beach will certainly satisfy your desires. Apart from the sea, kids (but adults too!) will also enjoy very much the mini golf, the “Fun Castle” and the zoo.
Afternoons are ideal not only for staying at the beach, but also for sightseeing. If you stroll around you may see the medieval tower, the stone bridge by the sea, very well preserved and the ruins of the old church of Aghios Spyridon situated just off the village. A t the top of mountain Scopos you will find the now ruined Holy Monastery of Panaghia Scopiotissa (“Holy Virgin of Scopos”) built almost, at the place where in antiquity was situated the temple of Diana (Artemis). The interior of the church is decorated with nice frescoes and a carved icon screen made of marble. And, of course, apart from the monuments, once at Scopos, you will enjoy the excellent view and take lots of wonderful photos of the village and the sea below.
In case of health problems you may address to the Health Services of the nearby town of Zakynthos (some 4 kilometers far away).
