The landscape is lovely and the area is suitable both for those looking for relax and calmness and for people preferring “hot” amusement and intense nightlife.
Food is excellent and abundant: you will find a lot of traditional taverns with local dishes and others with Greek and international people. The fans of fast food will also be satisfied as the fast foods of the settlement offer good meals in low prices.
Bars, pubs and trendy clubs with a variety of music, strong cocktails and a stylish atmosphere are available. And, for more romantic evenings, go to the bars of the hill where you will enjoy a marvelous view of “Kalamaki by night”.
The beach has fine sand and shallow sea, which makes it suitable for people of all ages, ideal for families and quite popular and crowded. However, if you wish a more solitary place for your swimming, you can find it at the end of the beach, just at the point where the mountain seems to drop into the sea. There, you will find crystal clear sea, calmness and few people.
Once at the beach you will admire the big rock, its “trade mark”, which the locals call Gypsolithos or Ypsolithos.
As the place is found within the protected area of the sea-turtle park, sea sport activities and staying at the beach after sunset is not allowed.
Also, as the beach is on the way of the airplanes, you will often see them flying above the beach, which is somehow inconvenient.
In case of health problems, a local Medical center is available at Pantocratoras (8 kilometers at the West); you may also address to the Health Services of the town of Zakynthos (6 kilometers at the North).
Access from the nearby town of Zakynthos is easy, by tourist buses, taxi, and of course rented or private car and motorbikes. |
