The beach of Limnionas, or Porto Limnionas as it is called by the locals, is situated almost at the middle of the western coast of the island, some 7 kilometers southwestern to the inland village of Aghios Leon.

The beach is more of a fjord than of the typical long beach.

It is possible that you will be alone or with only a few people. Choose a flat rock and lie down to enjoy the bright sun and the sea. But watch out! Don’t forget to bring water with you and an umbrella if you plan to stay for long. The overgrown environment you will see does not mean that you may also find shadow.

The fans of diving and snorkeling will find a paradise here. The seabed is full of fish and the rocks at the coast full of caves, smaller or bigger. Anybody can visit the cave found beside the steps you used to come to the beach. If you feel like more courageous and you are expert in diving, you may continue to explore this cave, but this time underwater. The cave is quite long and you should be very well equipped to continue. In this case, as you are continuing within the cave, you will find that the water gets colder and colder. Why? Simply because it is not seawater anymore, but the sweet water of an underwater brook. Although there is enough oxygen within the cave, you are recommended not to continue too far; to our knowledge, the cave is has not been totally explored so far, so it might be dangerous.

For your lunch, the closest place is Aghios Leon, where you will eat in a small traditional tavern.
