Porto Roxa beach, Zakynthos Island |
The beach of Porto Roxa is a small cove, similar to a fjord, situated at a distance of 32 kilometers western to the town of Zakynthos and less than 1,5 kilometers far from Porto Limnionas. No hotels, no taverns and bars, no umbrellas and sunbeds, not even potable water are available at this remote beach. What you come for here is the secluded close cove with the crystal clear blue water and the absolute calmness. Possibly you will be alone, or, at most, a small fishing boat may sail around and keep you company. You will enjoy sun lying down on a flat rock and looking at the sea. Of course, don’t forget to take some water with you. |

If you wish to have lunch, the closest place is Aghios Leon, where you will find a small traditional tavern. In case of health problems you may address to the local Medical Centers of Mahairado or Volimes, or to the Health Services of the town of Zakynthos (depending on your destination). Access to this idyllic beach is possible by car from the village of Aghios Leon (8 kilometers at the Northeast), or from Porto Limnionas. You will park your car at the end of the road and you will reach the beach walking down the steps dug in the rock. If you are an expert diver, you may dive from the rocky terrace some 4 meters above the sea. The beach is also accessible by boat or small yacht, rented or private. |
