Agii Theodori, Samos Island |
Agii Theodori is a small village situated near Platanos, at a distance of some 8 kilometers southeastern to the town of Karlovasi, just off the circular road leading from Karlovasi to Pythagorio and to the town of Samos. In the past the name of the village was Kavessaeika, after the surname of the first settler, Dimitris Kavessis who came from Platanos to settle here. Later on, the name of the village changed and it took the name of the homonymous church. |

The village is found within a ravine and, as it is surrounded by woods, gardens and vineyards, hardly is it seen from afar. The residents live mainly on agriculture; in the past the most important cultivation was that of tobacco, but now they are occupied mainly in viniculture. In case of health problems, you should return to the nearby town of Karlovasi (some 8 kilometers far away to the Northwest), where you will find a local Medical Center and a pharmacy. Access to the village from Karlovasi is easy by taxi; you may also reach the place by rented or private car and motorbikes. |
