Psili Ammos or Chrissi Ammos beach, Samos Island |
The small (400 meters long) beach of Psili Ammos (the word in Greek means “fine sand) is a sandy beach with fine sand from which it has taken its name; it is also referred to as Chrissi Ammos (“golden sand”), because of the color of the sand. The beach is situated some 51 kilometers southwestern to the capital town of Samos. The sea is shallow enough and very clean and, as the beach is found within the bay of Marathokambos at the southwestern coast of the island, it is well protected from the winds. |

Accommodation facilities are available, both close to the beach and in the area around; a tavern at the seafront is available for full meals, snacks and refreshments. The beach is organized and offers sufficient facilities; although far from the capital, it is nice for a relaxing swimming. In case of health problems a local Medical Center and a pharmacy are available in Marathokambos, some 9 kilometers northeastern to Psili Ammos. Access to the beach from the town of Samos is easy by rented or private car and motorbikes via Marathokambos; you will take the road leading to Kallithea. |
