Κonteika, Samos Island |
Seven kilometers southwestern to the town of Karlovasi is situated the village of Kontaeika, named after its first settler, the shepherd Konstantinos Kontos whose origin was from the nearby village of Platanos; Kontos settled here in mid 18th century. The village is surrounded by hills overgrown with vineyards and is entirely invisible from the side of the sea. The residents of the village are occupied in olive tree and vineyards cultivation, whereas in the past the main product of the village was tobacco. |

In case of health problems, you should address to the pharmacy and the local Medical Center of the nearby town of Karlovasi, some 7 kilometers northeastern to the village. Access from Karlovasi is easy by taxi and by rented or private car and motorbikes. |
