Paleokastro, Samos Island |
The village of Paleokastro is situated some 5 kilometers southeastern to the town of Samos, surrounded by hills that hide the village from the side of the sea. It owes its name to the ruins an old castle, found very close to the village. The village has been established in early 17th century. Its residents live on tourism and on agriculture, mainly of olive trees; in the past, tobacco was the most important product of the village. |
