Pyrgos, Samos Island |
27 kilometers southwestern to the town of Samos and some 5 kilometers western to Koumaradaioi, almost at the center of the island is situated the inland village of Pyrgos. The village is surrounded by hills and heights that make it totally invisible from the sea. Pyrgos is found at the riverside of river Amfilyssos and western to river Imvrassos. |

It owes its name to a shepherd who came from the town of Pyrgos in the Peloponnese (Helis) and was the first who settled in the area. Today, the residents live on agriculture, mainly of olive trees and vineyards, and on bee-keeping. Pyrgos is a lovely traditional village with luxuriant green, surrounded by vineyards. |
