The monastery of Timios Stavros, celebrated in honor of the Holy Cross, is situated close to the village of Mavrantzaei, at a distance less than two kilometers to the Southeast, very close to the road and at an altitude of some 200 meters. It has been established by the monk Nilos who in 1582 had constructed here a small church; some 20 years later, Nilos along with his brother Dionysios made it bigger. Today the church has an excellent icon screen, several frescoes and a nice collection of religious objects.
